Inktober 2016 Day 5 (Feat. Sprii)

Day 5 of Inktober and today's main theme is: Sad

I have to say Mr Jake Parker has definitely challenged the artist to consider the themes carefully! 
Anyway I have noticed that 90% of my pieces that I've created are great but they're too bubbly and happy.
To counteract this I've decided to feature a darker side to my personality and show some vulnerability.
Afterall the stronger the light, the stronger the shadow! 
I could have illustrated myself in this but I figured I'd let my own oc be featured as it's adorable character contrasts to the theme and makes more of an impact!

I feel that this piece is relatable to many people but this does reflect the anxiety and depression I have to live with at times. With that in mind I captured this moment of my imagination and created this.

For colours I kept it very monotone and considered colour emotion and the relationships between the two. For example, I could have gone for blue but blue can also be associated with peace, relaxation which would defeat the purpose of this piece.
I could have gone with purple but that is often associated with fear and again wouldn't capture the emotion of the piece. 
Monotone and Greyscale are most often associated with depression which is why I went for this colour scheme!

As you can see through development and comparison of previous pieces, I am gaining a much stronger understanding of using ink with colour relation and through use of texture!
